A Land of Tibet

                                                                                                   *

More work on the sculpture of Tara Drolma!  I mostly worked on  the face this week so here are some more pictures. I worked a lot around the orbit of the eyes and around the mouth then developed the shape of the cheeks.

I'm trying here to portray the gentle sense of humor that Tara has.  It is something all Tibetans have.

The front view still needs a bit more work to blend with the sides a bit and to soften and refine the plane transitions. It's coming along just fine though!

Here's the regal look!  We can imagine some jewelry hanging down.

This is a view similar to last week ;I've just completed a bit more work. We can compare it to see how the eyes and mouth have changed to impart more of Tara's persona. As the Dalai Lama has described it  , ' we Tibetans are easy going by nature...it is only in the most desperate of circumstances that our sense of humor fails us.'  Tibetans have surely been through the most terrible times imaginable yet their humor still remains as strong as ever!

Here are some more shirt designs!

These are the same as last week but  on different colors. Please click on each and we'll look at them more closely...

The newer designs. The practice with color printing and work in the photo editing software has certainly helped!

I thought some pictures of the sculpture of Tara Drolma as work progressing might be fun. More technical stuff. You'll notice that this view actually looks better in the larger pictures. That's because the light was directly on most of the features which cut down on the ability to see the shadows that define the features. It's easier for the eye to pick up clues to complete the face when it's larger. I increased the color saturation to help which increased the redness.

In this view, which I've just brought us, there is lots of contrast and shadow so it looks just fine!  The shirt color is actually very similar to the color of this page although it doesn't look it in the picture.

This is from the later stage of the modelling. I increased the contrast as I mentioned earlier.
